The trunks went up and kids came out . It was a spooktacular event. More like a marathon. The crowds were HUGE. In addition to the candy provided by club members additional candy that was collected by The Villages at the regional Rec Centers was delivered to the 25 cars by a 4 wheel wagon. Somewhere in excess of ten wagon loads delivered to each car. It was nonstop from 3pm to 7pm when the supply was exhausted. So were all the club members. Everyone worked / played until they could no longer stand.
As the evening went on the club members were entertained by Witches, tall people, clowns, and adults that went all out on their costumes. Not sure if you could have fit anyone else on to the streets of Brownwood.
The cars were judged by the Villages staff and awards were handed out. Two Goulash looking children Zack and CJ helped distribute the awards. Additional pictures of the award winners are on the recent photos page. What a fun event.
Lots of Fun. Laughter filled the Truman Rec center tonight as members of the Villages Vintage Car Club enjoyed game night. Village Feud, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Name that tune and Deal or No Deal all professionally presented by Ric Mitchell. The setup was just like being on TV. Entertaining for both participants and viewers. Club members won chances for large sums of money. Everyone went home a winner.
There were 55 club members participating in the Poker Run. So what did it take to win the best hand.
three 5’s? no
three Jack’s? no
three Ace’s? Yes that is the winner.
Congratulation to Dominick Diaz for pulling the best hand. The Scavenger hunt part of this competition was hotly contested. You needed 48 out of 49 question correct to win this. Some of the prizes were dinner of your choice at Bonefish Grill, Outback Steakhouse, or Carrabba’s . Congratulation to all the winners.
A big thank you to Rick & Kathy Welsh and Allen & Jane Lariviere. They put together the Scavenger Trivia question and ran the course several time to be sure the flow and complexity were satisfactory. Little did they know the question of how many balls in the yard would lead to a boisterous exchange during the judging.
Thanks to Bill and Juanita for the food and Domminic for the refreshments. Everyone left smiling. The video is on the recent video page and still photos in recent photos.
The Car Club was recently featured in the wheels section of the Daily Sun. Club is a young 16 years.
Open the windows and lock the doors—Its TVVCarClub Karaoke at Alamanda rec center for Valentine ’s Day. An event catered by Oakwood BBQ with enough Chicken , Pork BBQ, beans and slaw to feed a first and second time around at the buffet. Cake with a Valentine’s frosting topped it off.
Karaoke can be intimidating but we had lots of first timers and a couple of folks that were pretty comfortable on stage with only background music and a screen full of lyrics. Who knew Dominick could hand out a rendition of La Bamba that would make Ritchie Valens proud. There was cowboy Bill where no country song was out of his reach. The car club really heated up the rec center. With the windows wide open all the men took the stage and the volume turned up, no alligator was safe in The Villages.
Check out the photo album for pictures.
It was a Valentines dance, the women all in red, the men not so much. Lots fun, music and dancing the night away with your favorite partner.
