Valentines Dance and Karaoke Night

Open the windows and lock the doors—Its TVVCarClub Karaoke at Alamanda rec center for Valentine ’s Day. An event catered by Oakwood BBQ with enough Chicken , Pork BBQ, beans and slaw to feed a first and second time around at the buffet. Cake with a Valentine’s frosting topped it off.

Karaoke can be intimidating but we had lots of first timers and a couple of folks that were pretty comfortable on stage with only background music and a screen full of lyrics. Who knew Dominick could hand out a rendition of La Bamba that would make Ritchie Valens proud. There was cowboy Bill where no country song was out of his reach. The car club really heated up the rec center. With the windows wide open all the men took the stage and the volume turned up, no alligator was safe in The Villages.IMG_2541

It was a Valentines dance, the women all in red,  the men not so much.  Lots fun, music and dancing the night away with your favorite partner. IMG_1100

**National Parts Depot** “a day at the museum”

Wow was the comment from the club members who were visiting for the first time.  200 cars -originals, low mileage, historically significant.  The 5 millionth car produced by Ford next to the 5 millionth car produced by Chevrolet.  Really , how do you find these cars.  There were 30 to 40 year old examples of cars and trucks with 10 original miles on them.   The guide who narrated the tour was more than knowledgeable, he was an expert.  After the NPD visit the group moved to Mimi’s café where they assembled in a private room for a great lunch.  The energy in the room was high octane.

Winter Run

Don Garlits held his Winter Run car show Saturday Jan 31 at the museum site near Ocala. The Club was well represented on a beautiful day in central Florida.  You can see photos on the recent photo page and club photo album site.  There were about 500 cars in the show and most were dressed out with horsepower and chrome.  Car Show proceeds went to Hospices house in Ocala.    A day were everyone was a winner.

Mecum Auction Kissimmee

Several members of The Villages Vintage Car Club were spotted at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee.  With nearly 2000 cars on site it was almost more eye candy one could take in.  Three different groups from the car club were spotted.  If 60’s muscle cars are part of your car passion this was the place to be.  There was one late 90’s BMW with 32 inch chrome rims but that was an exception.  Lots off Detroit Iron on display and up for auction.  The auction action was fast and furious. Watched a 68 Austin Healy 3000 go across the block starting bid at $12,000 and in a blink it was well north of $75,000 selling at $82,000.  An awesome show and beautiful facility
